The infrastructure executive, Netflow managing director Phil Dreaver has bought the Towers Road, Toorak mansion from rich listers Daniel and Danielle Besen.

The New Zealand-born Dreaver has been with one of Australia’s most successful infrastructure investors since 2005. Plenary and Cintra have recently combined to create a joint venture business, Netflow to compete in the Australia and New Zealand road infrastructure market.

As the chief investment officer for Plenary Australia, the 2005 founding director of Plenary Group North America relocated to Australia in 2015.

He had previously worked as a director in ABN AMRO Bank's Infrastructure Capital Group in Sydney, Toronto and Vancouver.

The $26.25 million deal, reported by The Australian, set Melbourne’s record residential price, bettering the $24.1 million set in July 2015 when Tony and Jennifer Smorgon sold their Robertson Street, Toorak home.

Daniel and Danielle Besen, who reportedly separated last year, are members of the billionaire family which founded retail chain Sussan.

The Wood Marsh-designed home was marketed as representing the pinnacle of modern residential design.

The Wood Marsh-designed home, marketed as representing the pinnacle of modern residential design, was never occupied by the Besen’s.

The Besen’s put the Towers Road property on the market in October through Marshall White director Marcus Chiminello.

The property is set on a 2300 square metre block.

The home has four bedrooms and five bathrooms.

Dreaver recently confirmed that Sydney’s WestConnex was a significant opportunity for the new business and would attract Netflow’s initial focus.

Plenary Group is an independent, long-term investor, developer and manager of public infrastructure with 41 projects worth more than A$29 billion across Australia, Canada and the US.

Plenary is currently developing some of Australia’s largest transport projects including the A$1.6 billion Toowoomba Second Range Crossing, the A$3.7 billion Sydney Metro Northwest and the A$2 billion High Capacity Metro Trains project in Melbourne.

A waterfront home at Point Clare, on NSW’s Central Coast, boasting 270 degree views of Brisbane Water, is set to go to auction with $2.6 million hopes.

With 22 metres of water frontage, the 400 square metre home at 5A Coogee Road, Point Clare sprawls across six levels and includes a deep water jetty with private boatshed, pool, spa, and rooftop terrace doubling as a private putting green.

Other features include a home theatre, home office, ducted air conditioning and gourmet kitchen with European stainless steel appliances.

The property’s vendor, Michael Robillard, commissioned an architect to design the five-bedroom, two-bathroom home to maximise views and liveability of the 800 square metre block.

“You awake to spellbinding sunrises every morning and the sound of gently lapping waves,” he said, saying the views stretch from the Gosford Marina down to Lion Island and Barrenjoey Lighthouse.

After living at the property for 13 years, Robillard and his wife have decided to downsize.

“It’s a fabulous family home but it’s time to pass the privilege onto someone else,” he said.

Selling agent, Andrew Macdonald of Ray White Point Clare said the property has proven popular among those from Sydney’s Northern Beaches and North Shore.

“There are a lot of locals that would like to move up to the waterfront, however they are competing with hungry Sydney buyers who are inspired by the views,” he said.

“Noonan Point is a really tightly held enclave as it’s only 10 minutes to the M1 and 20 minutes to the Ettalong ferry to Palm Beach” he said.

Macdonald said the nearby Point Clare public school is highly regarded and while Gosford Selective High and Central Coast Grammar are also close by.

The property will go to auction on 26 March 2017.

Melbourne interior designer David Hicks is selling his St Kilda Road, Melbourne apartment that he designed from scratch.

David designed the lock and leave three bedroom apartment in the Elenberg Fraser designed, Morry Schwartz-built development after paying $2,975,000 in 2007.

No expense was spared in the interiors, with hand selected materials in the gallery like open spaces with travertine-lined floors.

He layered in his collection of vintage, antique and modern furniture and art.

Terraces lead off every room of the apartment, with a leafy and secluded outlook over South Yarra.

He's previously said he loves apartment living, and from a design perspective he suggests contained spaces mean owners can often go a little more glamorous than they would with a house.

Kay & Burton South Yarra agents Damon Krongold and Tom Staughton have a March 15 offer deadline.
